Wolf Facts
Wolf pups are born deaf and blind while weighing around 0.5 kg (1 lb). It takes about 8 months before they are old enough to actively join in wolf pack hunts.
When hunting alone, the wolf catches small animals such as squirrels, hares, chipmunks, raccoons or rabbits. However, a pack of wolves can hunt very large animals like moose, caribou and yaks.
A wolf can run at a speed of 65 kilometers per hour during a chase. They can keep up a reasonable pace for hours and have been known to cover distances of 90 kilometers in one night.
Everyone and everything has a story, wither it be a good one, a bad, or in between. Although many do not stop to think about animals having a story, they do. One of the most incredible stories focuses on a Park on the edge of Wyoming and a group of people who realized that wolves were not harming anything, but actually saving entire habitats and species.
Wolves are outstanding creatures that humans have come to fear. However many wolves will prefer to avoid human contact we have a subconscious fear toward. We fear these beautiful creatures because they resemble ourselves so much. A wolf cares for its family, hunts for food, and is a top predator.
Wolves are not animals to be feared, they are to be given the same rights we give elk, deer, rabbits, and every other animal in Yellowstone National Park.
