Description

toloniferous, mat-forming. Stems ascending to erect, 3–15 cm. Basal leaves spatulate, 5–15 mm long with rounded-mucronate tips, 1-nerved. Stem leaves linear, 1–2 cm long. Inflorescence corymbiform with 3 to 7 heads; male plants absent. Involucre 7–11 mm high. Phyllaries white above, green to pink below. 

 

Habitat

Grasslands, sagebrush steppe, open forest, stony calcareous soil of exposed slopes; plains, valleys to montane.
